kalidasa a intro : Kālidās was a Classical Sanskrit writer, widely considered the best poet and dramatist within the Sanskrit language of India. His plays and poetry are based on the Vedas, the Ramayana, the Mahabharata and therefore the Puranas. His surviving works carries with it three plays, two epic poems and two shorter poems. Much about his life is unknown, only what are often inferred from his poetry and plays. His works can not be dated with precision, but they were possibly authored within the 4th–5th century CE. Scholars have speculated that Kalidasa may have lived near the Himalayas, within the vicinity of Ujjain, and in Kalinga.
